Xperia z: Sony Specs up the phone cam fight

(Also, see the Xperia Z's price and date for release here)

There is something cool about the imagining/video tech in Sony Mobile's latest smartphone device the Xperia Z. The thing is, I could be biased because I am still a huge Sony Ericsson fan and that inspiration has stayed with me even after SE went off the market.

Anyhow, fan or not, I feel the Xperia Z is probably one of the best of the Xperia stable. There are quite a number of features I believe you'll really think are awesome. What is so cool about the bit? Is it the super-sharp HD display or the indisputably cool image-sensing technology called the 'Exmor RS' - claimed to be the "world's first image sensor for smartphones" - which the phone maker has incorporated as its flagship imaging functionality. Or is it the 'highest' water-resistant build of the Xperia Z that is the selling point?  For all I know, it is not one feature but a combination of all of them that makes Xperia Z such an amazing smartphone.

Let's check out the image/video features of this recently-released android smartphone.

A new imaging technology

My, my what do we have here. Exmor RS for Smartphones. What in the world of phone cam is Exmor RS?  Well, according to Sony Mobile, the Exmor RS™ HDR for photos and videos captures natural colours in "any light." With it, you can capture incredible clear photos even against strong back light. The camera captures the same image at different exposure levels and layers them to create a single optimized photo. Likewise, the same technology is applied to the video. With it you can film even in high contrast situations like in standing in front/against light. In other words, you can capture highly detailed shots even in bad light situations. You’re now also able to reproduce objects in more vivid colours and capture night images and faces in high clarity

Complementing features of the camera in the Xperia Z are the "high intensity action" burst-mode which gets you 10PPS. With the burst mode, you can shoot an "unlimited number" of images at 10 frames per second at a 9 Megapixel resolution.

Water and dust-resistant for all-weather photo adventure

Sony Mobile says the Xperia Z is a highly water-and dust-resistant smartphone - you can capture sharp photos and videos even in wet or dusty conditions, that is. AFter you have taken your photos or captured your favorite scene in HD video, you can browse in super-fast pinch-zoom, one of the fastest among the Xperia models.

Apple to reportedly stop supporting 32-bit apps with iOS 11

In a bid to remove problem apps and to focus on quality, Apple will stop supporting 32-bit apps with the release of iOS 11 later this year, meaning that many legacy applications will no longer function at all. "Starting with iOS 10.3, Apple has started alerting users when they open a 32-bit app on iOS. The pop up notification reads that the app must be updated by the developer or else it may not work with future versions of iOS," tech website 9to5mac.com reported on Monday. The tech giant started supporting 64-bit applications with the launch of the iPhone 5s in September 2013. The company also asked developers to submit new apps with 64-bit support since February 2015 and app updates starting June 2015. Last month, Apple has officially released iOS 10.3 update that has major updates regarding its newly launched AirPods, WiFi calling and SiriKit. Other minor updates include new security features and a new cloud section under the Apple ID Settings menu. The new section shows ...

From the cumbersome devices of the past to the sleek, powerful smartphones of today, mobile phones have reshaped the way we communicate, work, and interact with the world around us. The story of the journey of mobile phones is anything but tedious — an understatement unto itself.   A casual examination of the key moments in their history, the influential companies that shaped their trajectory, their impact on human communication, and what the future holds for these indispensable gadgets, will offer a clearer picture of the value that mobile technology has brought to people, commerce and technology the way we used to.   The roots of mobile phones can be traced back to the mid-20th century when the first rudimentary mobile communication devices were developed. The Motorola DynaTAC, introduced in 1983, marked a significant milestone as the first commercially available mobile phone. ...
