Amazon Fire Phone Preview: Cool New Peripherals

So now that Amazon's first ever mobile device is blazing across the, er, internet, and shaking the corridors of Samsung and Apple, you just might want to know what the ado all about. The Fire Phone is a feature-packed so-called "Fire OS" device that's being touted widely as the mobile market game-changer. (Read about the phone's two new tech pieces in it, and full specs here

What makes it special? In one sentence: It is for the shopper and the tech geek alike. For starters, Amazon promises you a powerful performance-phone that can do an "ultra-fast launch" and load times, fast, fluid graphics, high-speed data, and voice support from its 2.2GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, with Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM
The Dynamic Perspective tech that's in the Amazon phone
The Fire Phone features nine bands of LTE, four bands of GSM, five bands of UMTS for better voice coverage, faster data speeds, and international roaming, plus 802.11ac support, Wi-Fi channel bonding, NFC and Bluetooth support.

Amazon will sell the device exclusively on AT&T’s network, starting July 25. A 32GB version of the phone will go for $199, while a 64 GB version of the device will sell for $299, with contracts. The two versions cost $649 and $749 without a contract, respectively. Amazon’s new phone boasts a 13-megapixel camera, unlimited photo storage (because, cloud storage!) and four camera sensors that give its screen an unusual 3D effect.

Experience interactions not possible on other smartphones such as "immersive tilt" (take on a character's viewpoint to see around corners and obstacles in games!), auto-scroll, swivel, and peek to  navigate menus and access shortcuts with one hand are some of its visual functionality.

Aside from the new, advanced "immersive" technology, super camera, and visual functionality (read full specs and preview here), let's focus on the things that makes the Fire Phone totally a "game-changer" as being touted.

So what's Interesting?

Fire OS 3.5.0

Fire OS: Android meets could, is what it is. The Fire phone is powered by the latest version of Fire OS, 3.5.0 which is base Android that has cloud functionality. Amazon has integrated Amazon's digital content from Kindle books to movies.

Fire OS uses a customized user interface designed to prominently promote content available through Amazon services, such as Amazon AppstoreAmazon Instant Video,Amazon MP3, and Kindle Store. Its home screen features a carousel of recently accessed content and apps, with a "favorites shelf" of pinned apps directly below it. Sections are provided for different types of content, such as apps, games, music, audiobooks, and video among others. A search function allows users to search through their local content library or Amazon's stores. Similarly to Android, sliding from the top of the screen exposes quick settings and notifications.

The only UC Browser version that works on Samsung Wave 525 (Bada OS)

It's been about 4 years since the Samsung Wave 525 was launched. When it came out in 2010, it was one of the best mid-segment "smartphones" that hit the market. How many momentous, technologically-superior smartphones have come and gone since the Bada OS Wave?  The 525 must now feel like a dinosaur - and it is. In terms of its web browser, the most troublesome dinosaur ever. Prior to using the Samsung Wave, I'd used several other phones and none gave me any problem when using the internet as did the 525.  Browsing experience had never been so much a problem unlike the one the 525 gave me since i bought it three years ago. The various versions of UC Browser , a nifty little mobile browser that was touted to be the "fastest browser" for mobile phones that time, was the choice of wave 525 users. The only problem? In a world where every app and gadget was either android or windows, none worked for Bada OS (Samsung's own operating system). The Sams...

Overview of Sony Ericsson W995: The Little Walkman

The Sony Ericsson w995 Walkman is a relic from the glorious collaboration of Sony Corp and Ericsson. Yet, the  'Walkman' slider phone, released in 2009, remains one of the most popular mobile phones in the market today. An overview of the phone will give us amble reasons why even mobile phone reviewers still cannot beat the little device down, even in this age of the Xperias and the iPhones. Here is an overview of the  main features and specifications of this hardy little Sony Ericsson flagship phone. Overview: The Sony Ericsson w995 is a "Walkman" Slider phone. When it was released in 2009, the device offered probably three of then-biggest features to mobile phone users - a then-unheard of 8.1 Megapixel camera, 8GB Memory Card and 3G - one of the first pre-3G era phones that came with a 3G network band. My guess on the reasons for the phone's popularity is users' relentless hunger for big MP cameras. Only high-ends such as the Xperias, the Nokia Lumias and...
